Drum brakes function when the inside surface of the drum is pressed against the shoes. Although such brakes are also known as “pinch drum brakes” when the drum is squeezed between two shoes, much like a typical disc brake.

Servo Braking System:

The driver applies more pressure to the pedal with the help of this system. They use the vacuum created by the air intake system in the engine’s intake pipe in gasoline engines or by a vacuum pump in diesel engines.

This brake uses power assistance which reduces human effort. The control cylinder in the car frequently moves with the help of a huge diaphragm that flexes in response to the engine vacuum.

Servo braking system boosters take the help of a hydraulic brake system to work.

Hydraulic Braking System:

Third type of car braking system - hydraulic braking system

This system works on friction, cylinders, and brake fluid. Glycol ethers or diethylene glycol force the brake pads to stop the wheels from turning by applying pressure inside. The Advantage of having this system is that its chances of failure are less and which makes it more reliable to use.

Electromagnetic Braking System:Fourth type of braking system - electromagnetic system

These are also known as EM Brakes. This type of braking system doesn’t use friction to stop the car, now you must be thinking about how the car with this system stops. Here is your answer; This system uses electromagnetism to stop or slow a car “without having friction”. This braking system is very safe it’s less slipperiness than the old traditional braking systems.

This type of system is visible in hybrid, trains, and trams.
